Started in 2001, the .NAME generic top-level extension is the sole TLD planned for personal websites only. These domain names can consist of personal or fictional names, nicknames and/or other designations people are famous by. At the beginning, just 3rd-level registrations were permitted, so if you wanted to buy john.doe.name, you had to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration process was loosened and 2nd-level registrations were also allowed. Existing third-level domains remained running.

You will be able to alter the WHOIS contacts, to park your domain, to set up Custom DNS records, etc. You can also move over an already registered domain to our company if you acquire its EPP transfer code from the current registration service provider and we will renew it once the transfer has been finished. There are no particular rules on who can register a dot NAME domain name, but in order to maintain the idea behind its creation alive, the Registry may verify who the owner is and if there is no connection between the owner and the actual domain, the registration might be challenged.
