Every registered domain name has no less than two Name Server records which show where it's hosted i.e. by using these records you point your Internet domain to the servers of a certain hosting provider. That way, you have got both your site and your e-mails handled by the same company. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), nevertheless, there are a number of other records, for instance A and MX. The first one shows which server deals with the website for a given domain and is always an IP address (123.123.123.123), while the second one reveals which server deals with the e-mails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). As an illustration, any time you enter a domain in your browser, your request is sent through the global DNS system to the company whose NS records the domain uses and from there you will be directed to the servers of a different provider if you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your domain address. Having different records for the site and the emails means that you could have your site and your emails with 2 different providers if you wish.

Custom MX and A Records in Cloud Web Hosting

If you have a cloud web hosting account with our company and you wish to direct either your site or your e-mails to another company, it is going to take you literally simply 2 clicks to do it. Our Hepsia Control Panel provides an easy-to-use DNS Records tool, where all your domains and subdomains will be listed alphabetically and you'll be able to see and change the A and/or MX records for any of them. If you want to use a different email provider and they ask you to set up more MX records than the default two, it won't take more than a few mouse clicks either to add them. You can even set different latency for these records and the lower the latency, the greater the priority a particular MX record is going to have. The propagation of each record that you change or create will not take more than a few hours and if required, you'll also be able to set the so-called Time-To-Live value, which reveals how long a record will remain active after it's changed or deleted.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

With the semi-dedicated hosting plans that we provide, you are going to have complete control over the records of all domains and subdomains which you add in your hosting account. You can easily check what A and MX records every one of them has via the DNS Records section of the Hepsia hosting Control Panel and modifying any record takes as little as a few clicks. If you choose to switch your web or e-mail hosting provider, you can change the necessary record and direct your domain address to the other service provider for one of the services, while you still keep using the other one through us. Also you can keep the main domain here, while you edit the A record of only one of its subdomains. When you're modifying the MX records and you need additional ones on top of the default 2 that we have, you can create them with ease and set a different priority for each and every one.
